Upcycle and Mend Series: Hems
Upcycle and Mend Series: Hems
Have you completed Sewing Machine Basics or have similar skills? You're ready to upcycle and mend with us! We'll focus on a new item each week. Choose one or choose them all!
Have pants that are just a little too long? A skirt that needs a clean finish? In this hands-on hemming workshop, participants will learn the basics of measuring, pinning, pressing, and sewing a proper hem.
Each participant should bring one item from home to hem. We strongly encourage choosing something that is not your favorite piece. This is a skill-building class, and practicing on a low-pressure item helps you learn with confidence and without fear of mistakes.
You’ll leave with:
-
A better understanding of different hem types
-
Practical experience using a sewing machine for hemming
-
Tips for achieving neat, professional-looking results at home
This workshop is perfect for beginners or anyone looking to refresh their skills in a supportive, low-stress environment.
Please bring:
-
One garment to be hemmed (pants, skirt, dress, etc) Please make sure this is not a favorite item! Grabbing something from a thrift store is highly encouraged.
All other tools and guidance will be provided.
