Bring Your Own Garment: Appliqué Sweatshirt

Have you completed Sewing Machine Basics or have similar skills? You're ready to upcycle with us!

Join us to turn a plain sweatshirt into a one of a kind creation. Appliques can be as simple or as complicated as you'd like. Create patchwork and turn it into letters, cut simple shapes and sew around them, it's all up to you! Appliqué is super fun, but it can be tedious and fiddly to move around complicated designs with your machine. Some appliqué is better for handwork. We can show you both! If you do choose a complex design, we might not have time to fully finish during class. We'll get you started and give you directions for working at home. You can also book open studio time for $15/90 minutes if you don't have a machine of your own.

Please note:
Bring sweatshirts that are not your very favorites. Mistakes are part of the process, and practicing on low-risk pieces makes the experience more fun and freeing. We strongly encourage picking up a few t-shirts or sweatshirts from a thrift store so you have options to play with.
